this weekend was a busy one, a fun one and a sad one, all wrapped into…well, one.  i celebrated the thirtieth birthdays of two fabulous ladies from two of my “worlds” – san carlos world (where everyone loves wine, books and shoes) and law school world (where everyone loves wine, celebrity gossip and, well, shoes.) one of the birthday ladies is also making another transition in her life, going back to school! my beloved rachel, one of my fasion gurus and and icons, is abandoning me for the east coast. okay, abandoning may be strong, but that’s how much i love this girl! in honor of her send off, i, as the chairman of the baked goods committee, made some special treats for this lovely lady.  i hope you enjoy the pics as much as we enjoyed making (*and eating*) them. (the blue liner is vanilla cake w/vanilla buttercream, the silver liner is coconut cake with cream cheese frosting, and the yellow liner is key lime cake with vanilla frosting) all from scratch, all delicious (if i do say so myself…and i do.)

Fourth of July

yes, i recognize that the fourth of july was months ago, but i was studying for the bar, give me a break!! i did take some time out to make some treats for the fireworks show that the twenties went to in foster city. Bianca’s Shower – Cookies and Cupcakes!

i was so blessed to help throw a shower for my sweet friend bianca.  we have survived law school together, and after we pass the bar – she is getting married! here are some treats i whipped up for her shower.

i saw this post on bakerella’s blog and thought i would try these for easter.  mine didn’t turn out quite as cute, but they were a hit!

mother’s day cupcakes

although i couldn’t spend mother’s day with my dear sweet momma, i did get to celebrate with my sweet mother in law, her sister and their mom.  it was a fun day to spend time with these ladies, and i made a few cupcakes for their enjoyment. 🙂

Cookies!!

the hub loves cookies.  in fact, if you ask him what is favorite food is, the reply is always going to be cookies.  so for christmas one year, my sister bought me a cookie cook book, all about decorating sugar cookies, etc. love it. and also love baking cookies and decorating them! these were done for spring time and to practice for Bianca’s bridal shower coming up this weekend!!

maple walnut from martha

martha stewart that is. not the fabulous mom martha.  so i realize that i promised  three entries: cookies, maple walnut cupcakes and slightly singed brownies.  HOWEVER, the cookies and brownies were consumed before i could take pictures. take my word for it, they were yum.

i made these cupcakes for one of my last classes of law school.  the cupcakes are a walnut cinnamon and the icing is a buttercream maple, made with real maple syrup.  i got the recipe from my new favorite cookbook. they were yum, if i do say so myself.  one day i will also start posting recipes.

but not today. 😉
